Camp Hill Line Stations – Bringing Birmingham’s Stations Back to Life
Transport Signs was appointed by VolkerFitzpatrick to deliver the complete signage package for the three new Camp Hill Line stations in Birmingham – Kings Heath, Pineapple Road and Moseley Village.
Our involvement covered the design, product integration, fabrication and installation of the signage across all three stations, working closely with Mott MacDonald and D5 to develop and integrate each of the individual sign types into the station environment.
The project was delivered across 2025 and 2026, culminating in the opening of the three stations to passengers in April 2026.

How We Delivered
Bringing the Camp Hill Line Back to Life
The project has a particularly important place in Birmingham’s railway history.
The original stations at Kings Heath, Moseley and Hazelwell (now Pineapple Road) closed in 1941 during the Second World War, and the communities were subsequently without a local passenger rail service for more than 80 years. The new stations have been built on or close to the sites of their historic predecessors, reconnecting these communities with Birmingham city centre.
When passenger services returned on 7 April 2026, the Camp Hill Line once again became part of the local passenger network, with West Midlands Railway operating services between Birmingham New Street and Kings Norton via the three new stations.
For Transport Signs, being responsible for the signage that helps bring these stations to life has made the project particularly rewarding.
Three Stations, One Coordinated Programme
A key challenge was the requirement to develop and deliver signage for three stations simultaneously.
Sign types for Kings Heath, Pineapple Road and Moseley Village were being designed, integrated, fabricated and installed in parallel. This required detailed coordination between Transport Signs, VolkerFitzpatrick, Mott MacDonald, D5 and the wider project team.
Each station had its own requirements, while maintaining a consistent signage system and visual identity across the three locations. Managing these requirements in parallel demanded careful project management, design coordination and production planning throughout the programme.
12+ Months of Design & Product Integration
The project involved more than 12 months of detailed design development and product integration before the signage was fully realised on site.
Working with Mott MacDonald and D5, our team developed the individual sign types and coordinated their integration into the station architecture and wider project design.
This lengthy design and coordination process was an important part of ensuring that the finished signage was not simply functional, but properly integrated into the new station environment.
After more than a year of design development, product coordination and fabrication, seeing the signage installed and the stations welcoming passengers for the first time has been a particularly rewarding milestone for everyone involved.
From Design to Installation
Transport Signs managed the signage package end-to-end, combining detailed design and product integration with specialist fabrication and installation.
The project demonstrates our ability to manage a complex signage package across multiple new-build stations, delivering products in parallel while maintaining consistency, quality and attention to detail across the entire programme.
We’re proud to have played a part in the return of passenger rail services to Kings Heath, Pineapple Road and Moseley Village, and to have helped bring these historic railway locations back to life for a new generation of passengers.
Three stations. One coordinated signage programme. 12+ months of design and integration. A railway brought back to life.
